Jewellery making: floater necklace

We show you how to suspend beads on a wire to create an illusion necklace

1. You will need tiger tail, flexrite or illusion thread, beads, crimps and a clasp. You can make this with any size of bead.

2. Start at the centre it is easier to get the piece even when you do. Use a bead design board to help with positioning

3. Thread beads onto the tiger tail, put a crimp on either side of each group of beads.

4. Crush the crimp using crimping pliers firstly in the "u" section and then......

5. ......in the tube section of the pliers to make a neat clean tube from the crimp.

6. You need to get the crimp right next to the beads to keep them still on the thread.

7. This shows a venetian bead with a crimp on either side of it.

8. Decide on your groups and how long to make the necklace. Thread & crimp until you have them all in place.

9. Attach the clasp & a piece of extender chain using crimps. Bend the thread and push it back through a crimp for a neat finish.
